Entrepreneurship on the Fly
Entrepreneurs are always ready to turn lemons into lemonade. While a certain percentage of the country mopes around complaining about wearing masks, entrepreneurs see opportunities and seize upon it.
A friend of mine said it best. “I hated masks, until I started making and selling them. They’re great.” Meanwhile, in Michigan, which the New York Times describes as having, “a long history of anti-government activity,” members of the Wolverine Watchmen have been arrested by the FBI for plotting to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
The Watchmen believe the governor is the root of that state’s government overreach, “suggesting that business closings and mask mandates were forms of tyranny.”
So while these gentlemen are in cuffs, after being incensed about wearing masks, a startup company, Resonance, according to TechCrunch, “is using its factory in the Dominican Republic to make face masks for consumers on the island and beyond.”
“To contribute to the Dominican health efforts, Resonance is acting to utilize their resources to manufacture safety masks for distribution to local hospitals, nursing homes, and other high-risk facilities as quickly as possible. They have provided user-friendly instructions and material and will pay their sewers to make these masks from the security of their homes,” a spokesperson for the company wrote in an email. “Resonance is currently working to share this downloadable platform and simple instructions to their website, so anyone in the world can contribute to their own local communities.”
Of course masks of all shapes and sizes are everywhere. But now, just in time for halloween, a company called 3wishes, the very morning after a fly landed and stayed on VP Mike Pence’s grey carefully coiffed hair during last night’s Vice Presidential debate has created the Debate Fly Wig. That’s right, 3wishes says,
MAKE YOUR HEAD GREAT AGAIN! Look fly and steal the spotlight at your next party with this Debate Fly Wig, perfect for when being a fly on the wall just won't do! You'll want to get caught in the crossfire with this special item featuring a deluxe, high-quality silver white wig with an attached, oversized black fly and Flag lapel pin included! Suit and plexiglass partition not included.
I can hear Murray Rothbard now, cackling about the Fly Wig. He wrote, ”The entrepreneur, the dynamic innovator, is after all the locus of individual ego and creativity, and is therefore the harbinger of often disturbing social change, as well as economic growth.”
Support entrepreneurship, not kidnapping a governor.
